The Ngau Tam Mei transitional housing project, located in Ngau Tam Mei, Yuen Long, Hong Kong, constructed and developed by Matrix Living, has been successfully delivered today!
FOREWORD
In recent years, to improve the living conditions of Hong Kong residents, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government introduced the transitional housing plan in 2018, followed by the launch of a funding program supporting non-governmental organizations in 2020. This has led to the rise of modular integrated construction, which integrates building elements, reducing construction time by 30% to 50% and cutting building costs by at least 10%.
Research from the University of Hong Kong indicates that compared to traditional construction, this approach increases on-site productivity by 100% to 400%, making it an effective solution for alleviating housing pressure in Hong Kong.
PROJECT DETAILS
The transitional housing construction project in Ngau Tam Mei, Hong Kong, adopts the Modular Integrated Construction (MiC) method using steel structures for design and construction. It is located in the northern area of Ngau Tam Mei, Yuen Long, Hong Kong, with a site area of 233,917 square feet.
The project comprises four 4-storey residential buildings, covering a total floor area of 322,969 square feet, providing 1,080 units. The residential units are divided into three types, with areas of 179, 262, and 358 square feet, and are expected to accommodate approximately 2,700 people.
